Comply with new electronic Commercial Accounting Declaration requirements – CANADA
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) project is a multi-year initiative that will transform the collection of duties and taxes for goods imported into Canada.
A key part of this is the Commercial Accounting Declaration (CAD), which allows for electronic submission of commercial accounting information including the ability to correct information via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
CargoWise has been updated to support the submission and processing of CAD messages. Once CBSA activates CARM R2 (scheduled for October 2023), you will be able to send and receive CAD messages in the platform. This will make the importation process easier and more efficient for everyone involved.
New BorderWise library – SINGAPORE
BorderWise is a daily go-to for many trade professionals to access the information they need to do their job with speed, quality and accuracy.
In a single window, it brings together a range of cross-border customs and compliance data, alongside a daily updates dashboard and powerful search capabilities, so you can quickly find and bookmark relevant information.
It features comprehensive reference libraries for numerous countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, the United States, and now Singapore.
Our new Singapore library has hundreds of important reference materials including the “ASEAN Singapore Trade Classification, Customs and Excise Duties” (STCCED), harmonized Tariff nomenclature, import and export controls, strategic goods controls, Free Trade Agreements, and other government cross-border requirements and legislation.
Fully integrated into CargoWise, there are three editions to choose from, with thousands of trade related legal books, documents and resources at your fingertips.
Streamline Booking Requests with new hazardous goods indicator – GLOBAL
We've made it easier for you to oversee and manage any shipments that contain hazardous goods. Now, when you fill out the booking request form, there's a special ‘hazardous goods’ flag that will be checked if there are these types of goods in your shipment. This flag will also be checked if a consolidation is identified as hazardous, even if there are no shipments attached yet.
Before, you could only indicate hazardous goods when you filled out the details on the Shipment > Packing tab. But with this new feature, you can let the Carrier know about any hazardous goods when you make a booking request, even if you don't have all the details yet.
Simply select the ‘Is Hazardous’ box on the Consol > Details > Pre-Allocation tab in CargoWise, and the hazardous goods flag on the Booking Request form will be automatically checked too.
Automatically extend pre-lodged declarations past expected clearance date – FRANCE
Previously, when you pre-lodged your customs declaration in France, it would automatically be cancelled if it was not cleared within 24 hours after the expected clearance date. To prevent this from happening, we’ve added a new feature that extends the expected clearance date by 24 hours.
To use this, go to Registry > Customs > France > Auto Send Messages > Date for duty automated modification, and choose whether to trigger the extension at the Company or Branch level. This feature is not activated by default, so you will need to enable it by selecting the ‘enable automated modification’ box.
Claim import consignments faster via the Maritime Cargo Processing system – UK
We’ve updated CargoWise so that you can now claim your cargo's Unique Consignment Number (UCN) on the Maritime Cargo Progressing (MCP) inventory system by nominating yourself as the agent. This makes it easier to clear your consignment via a referencing customs declaration using CargoWise.
Before, you had to claim your cargo on the MCP website or through self-nomination messages outside of CargoWise. Then, the UCN would be manually transcribed into the customs declaration's MUCR field.
To enjoy this new feature, create the job as usual, leaving the MUCR field blank. Simply use the new messaging menu to create a message, which will be delivered by CargoWise. If successful, the response message will update the declaration to apply the resulting UCN to the job's MUCR field.
