A day in the life of Stephen Dascoli, Senior Product Manager – eCommerce

Stephen Dascoli, Senior Product Manager – eCommerce, exemplifies this through his career journey, highlighting the powerful intersection of hands-on industry experience and a commitment to transforming global logistics with technology.  

Meet Stephen  

Stephen's journey to WiseTech began in freight forwarding and consulting, where he trained and assisted logistics professionals in implementing CargoWise.  

This experience gave him a front-row seat to the challenges and inefficiencies within the industry. But instead of staying on the sidelines, Stephen was determined to make a bigger impact. 

"What attracted me to WiseTech was the opportunity to go beyond training and implementation to actually shaping the products," Stephen shares. "I wanted to take the feedback and gaps I saw in the industry and turn them into solutions that drive real change." 

What does a Product Manager at WiseTech do? 

As a Product Manager, Stephen works closely with WiseTech’s development team to design and build solutions that tackle complex logistics challenges. 

"Day to day, I’m in constant communication with developers – whether through informal chats or structured meetings for project updates. The process starts with identifying an industry problem, designing a solution, and then collaborating with developers to implement it technically and bring it to life," Stephen explains.  

However, Stephen's role goes beyond just software development. It's about shaping the future of logistics. By spotting inefficiencies, predicting industry shifts, and eliminating error-prone manual processes, Product Managers like Stephen are playing a key role in transforming the global movement of goods. 

Driving eCommerce innovation 

Before joining WiseTech, Stephen had hands-on experience in international eCommerce logistics, where he saw firsthand the rapid growth in package volumes. As demand surged, he quickly identified the manual labor involved in warehouse processing and customs clearance as a significant bottleneck. 

"Since joining WiseTech, I’ve worked on building solutions that automate these manual processes. For example, we’ve developed tools to identify exceptions early in the supply chain, preventing issues before they cascade into larger problems," Stephen explains. 

These innovations have significantly improved the efficiency and scalability of eCommerce logistics, enabling freight forwarders to manage increasing volumes with greater ease and precision. 

"At WiseTech, you don’t need to be a coding expert to thrive as a product manager. What we truly value is real-world industry experience and a deep understanding of our customers' challenges. It’s the insight from those on the front lines that helps us shape products that truly make a difference.”
