Milton Keynes, UK, March 19, 2013 — CargoWise®, a global leader in technology solutions for logistics service providers (LSPs), has announced that long-term customer APC Logistics AB, using ediEnterprise software, has expanded into the Taiwanese market, strengthening its presence in Asia.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden, APC Logistics adopted ediEnterprise in 2008 after a competitive tender process, which culminated with a vote in which the staff themselves selected CargoWise as the software provider of choice. In subsequent years, the ediEnterprise software has been gradually rolled out across APC Logistics’ international offices, in an implementation project that will ultimately see more than 300 users access customer data from a single global database.
“Before we implemented ediEnterprise, all our data had to be correlated from different sources then put into reporting software to get the data into a meaningful format,” said Karl-Johan Garvö, Corporate IT Manager for APC Logistics AB. “Now however, ediEnterprise software is providing us with a strong business reporting tool - and it's becoming indispensable.”
According to Garvö, the ability to operate from a single database across multiple geographies has had a dramatic impact on the company’s productivity, as it has led to a reduction in handling costs and processing times.
“By operating off a single database, we’re able to give our customers greater service and the ability to ‘look into’ operational data at any time, and from wherever they happen to be,” Garvö said. “Operating from a single-source data warehouse reduces costs and data redundancies, and has allowed management ready access to accurate data.”
Steve Corbet, CargoWise Vice President of Business Development for EMEA, said the APC Logistics AB implementation has been notable because of the company’s capacity to use different components of the system to enhance customer service and improve efficiency.
“Five years ago, APC Logistics was our first customer in Sweden, and now they are on the verge of becoming one of our largest customers worldwide,” said Corbet. “Mr. Garvö and his team have been able to use workflow automation to enable fewer administrative errors, improve business efficiency and maximize communication throughout Europe and across the globe.”
