Customs compliance is a key concern for any business involved in international trade, and staying up to date with the latest regulations can be a complex challenge. To help streamline this process, we continuously update CargoWise to ensure our customers remain compliant with the latest customs requirements around the globe.
Whether you're dealing with air shipments to Brazil, low-value consignments in South Africa, or navigating Canadian and Japanese customs processes, our latest customs and compliance updates are here to simplify your workload and ensure smoother operations.
Enhanced CCT Shipment Report – BRAZIL
We’ve made updates to help you stay compliant with Brazil Customs' new air shipment requirements. The CCT Shipment Report now includes the Special Handling Code (Manuseio especial da carga), Special Service Request (Solicitação de serviço especial), and Other Service Information (Outras informações de serviço).
These updates help Brazil Customs capture more detailed shipment data, making processing smoother and more efficient. For you, this means greater confidence in compliance and fewer risks of shipment delays or penalties when sending air freight to Brazil. By consolidating all the required info into one accurate report, CargoWise simplifies your documentation process, saving you time and reducing effort.
New Competent Authority Approval – GLOBAL
CargoWise now meets the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation (section '1.2.6 Exemptions'), allowing the transport of otherwise forbidden materials by air when a Competent Authority Approval (CAA) is attached as an eDoc. This change makes it easier to handle dangerous goods while staying compliant with international safety standards.
Previously, materials forbidden for air transport could not be saved in the system, even if allowed under IATA Special Provisions A1 or A2. With this update, you can now ship restricted dangerous goods with a CAA attached to the shipment’s eDocs. Special Provisions A1 and A2 allow for transport on passenger or cargo aircraft, respectively. This update streamlines handling complex shipments, ensuring compliance and reducing administrative work.
Changes to DA 306 Customs Declarations – SOUTH AFRICA
CargoWise now supports the creation and submission of South African DA 306 customs declarations for low-value consignments (ZAR 500 or less). This update ensures compliance with the latest South African Revenue Service (SARS) regulations.
Before, users could only convert HVLV consignments into standalone declarations. Now, you can directly create and submit DA 306 customs declarations using a template based on the SARS DA 306 format released in September 2024. This update makes handling low-value shipments easier, saving you time and ensuring compliance with South African customs.
New Business Number types – CANADA
CargoWise now supports additional Business Number (BN) and Program Identifier (RM) types required for importing goods into Canada. With the implementation of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system, CBSA is now validating BRM numbers in the CAD message.
To help you stay compliant, we’ve added new Business Number Types for Brokers (BRB) and Non-Commercial purposes. BRM numbers can now be entered under the Registration Numbers / Codes tab for each organization, ensuring proper labeling and accurate reporting for customs declarations.
Improved NACCS calculations – JAPAN
Nippon Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System (NACCS) is Japan’s system for customs declarations and cargo clearance. To make customs declarations easier, CargoWise now automatically calculates the NACCS code when you enter a 9-digit tariff or export statistical code, setting it as the default value.
With this update, the tariff is saved as JI_Tariff, and the NACCS code as JP_NACCSCode, automatically populating them into NACCS messages. You can still override the default NACCS code if needed. This change simplifies data entry, ensures compliance with NACCS, and helps prevent delays in customs processing.
